ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ දුම්රිය ස්ථාන, බස් නැවතුම් සහ සංචාරක ස්ථාන සඳහා ජාත්‍යන්තර මට්ටමේ පිරිසිදු, ආරක්ෂිත, ආසන පහසුකම් සහිත මහජන වැසිකිලි අවශ්‍යයතාවය.
ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ බොහෝ මහජන වැසිකිලි—විශේෂයෙන් දුම්රිය තුල, දුම්රිය ස්ථාන, බස් මධ්‍යස්ථාන, සංචාරක ප්‍රදේශ—පිරිසිදු නොවීම, ආරක්ෂාව නොමැතිවීම හෝ භාවිතා කළ නොහැකි තත්ත්වයන් නිසා ජනතාව සහ සංචාරකයන් දිනපතා අපහසුතාවයට මුහුණ දේ.
මෙය සුළු ගැටලුවක් නොව, සෞඛ්‍ය ගැටලුවක් සහ සංචාරක රටා මනෝභාවයට බලපාන ගැටලුවක් වේ.
පිරිසිදු, ආරක්ෂිත, සැමට ගැළපෙන වැසිකිලි පද්ධතියක් අයිතියක් සහ සංචාරකයන්ගේ මූලික අපේක්ෂාවක් බව සැලකිය යුතුය.
අපේ ඉල්ලීම්:
- අවම පිරිසිදු මට්ටමක්: ජලය, සබන්, කාන්තා වැසිකිලිවල සනීපාරක්ෂක උපකරණ.
- රක්ෂක ආධාරක ආකෘතිය: විවෘත වේලාවන්හිදී කෙනෙකු විසින් නිරීක්ෂණය හා පිරිසිදු කිරීම. පිරිසිදු කරන්නන්ට ඒ සඳහා පුහුණුවක් ලබාදීම හා පිරිසිදු මට්ටම රඳා පවත්වාගැනීමට වගවීම.
- ප්‍රවේශ පහසුකම්: අවම වශයෙන් එක් රෝද පුටු ප්‍රවේශ ඇති වැසිකිලියක් සහ ළදරුවන් වෙනුවෙන් ඇඳුම් මාරු කිරීමේ පහසුකම්.
- ජාතික මහජන වැසිකිලි සිතියමක්: වෙබ්/ජංගම මාර්ගයෙන් පිවිසිය හැකි, ස්ථාන, පහසුකම්, විවෘත වේලාවන් සහ ආසන තත්ත්වයන් දැක්වෙන මැප් සිතියමක්.
- සංචාරක-සූදානම් පහසුකම්: බහුභාෂා පුවරු, පැහැදිලි මාර්ගසූචන, සහ තත්ත්ව නඩත්තු.
UDA, නගර සභා, දුම්රිය දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව, NTC, SLTDA වැනි ආයතන මඟින් ජනතාවට සහ සංචාරකයන්ට ගෞරවයක් සහ ආරක්ෂාවක් ලබාදීම සඳහා මෙය දැන්ම ක්‍රියාත්මක කළ යුතුය.
Public Toilets You Can Actually Use – Clean, Safe, and Accessible for All
Too many public toilets in Sri Lanka—especially in Trains, train stations, bus terminals, and tourist areas—are dirty, unsafe, or simply unusable. This is not just an inconvenience; it’s a public health issue, an accessibility issue, and a tourism image problem.
Clean, safe, and accessible toilets are a basic right for residents and a minimum expectation for visitors. Countries that take tourism seriously have clear public toilet standards and publish maps so everyone can find them.
We are asking for a National Public Toilet Standard and a National Toilet Map, starting with:
- Minimum Hygiene: Water, soap, flush systems, dry floors, and sanitary bins—always stocked and clean.
- Caretaker Model: Each facility staffed during open hours to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Accessibility: At least one wheelchair-accessible stall per site, with baby-changing facilities.
- National Toilet Map: An online, mobile-friendly map listing locations, facilities, open hours, and accessibility info.
- Tourism-Ready Facilities: Multilingual signs, clear directions, and proper maintenance at all major tourist and transport hubs.
This petition calls on the UDA, councils, SLR, NTC, and SLTDA to act now—before another tourist writes about Sri Lanka’s “toilet problem” and before another local is forced to suffer in silence.
Sign and share this petition. Public toilets should be something we can be proud of—not something we warn people to avoid.

I am signing because I have unpleasant firsthand experience in using toilets at public facilities, including bus stands.
I frequently use dirty public toilets.
I am signing this as this is specially important for females. I have very bad experience in washrooms at most of the bus stands.Absolutely they are not clean and don’t know whether they are cleaning at least once a year.
I always see the situation..
